Tech Experience-starting new business

A similar question to a recent post. I am nearly ready to launch my new business. After reading through all the content on this site, I started to wonder if I have the chops to actually perform the work I say I will.

I have been building computers for over 10 years. Virus and spyware removal is no problem. Registry edits when necessary, os installs, drivers, etc.. all routine, network setup not a problem and maintenance. However some of the more complicated repairs I have read on this site my be challenging. I am studying for my A+ but do not have it yet. My hopes are that most repairs will be simple in nature.

A little feedback may help me to hold off or push forward.

Sounds like you have quite a bit of experience. I don't think there is anyone on this site or any other site for that matter that knows "everything". I think it's more important if you don't know something how to troubleshoot it in order to resolve the problem.

Also, IT wise you have experience but you know you also have to have some business knowledge to get going and in order to be successful.

The business stuff is easy for me, I have been building businesses for other people for 16 years. Finally decided to put that experience to use for myself.

Just remember you will be last resort for most new client home users and almost 7 out of 10 times it will only arrive at you after the following have tried to fix it first:
a) the family member who thinks they know all about computers
b) the the friends of the families son who once built his own computer has had a look
c) Wee jimmy from down the street/pub/office who claims they can fix any comp problem has failed.
d) Mr Walmart tech has scratched his head or done his fourth N&P.

Dont get me wrong this doesnt mean it will all be hard fixes and after first/second time of trying the above methods they realise that the above can cause more damage than the original fault and are costing them more in the long run.

Business clients are a total different matter altogether though
