Tech Center Customer Application Version 1.0 (Updated July 17th 2011)
============================================

Changelog Version 1.0:

__________________________________________

- Added Graphic Stream to main menu (currently loading a Promotional offer)
- Added Rate your Tech Button / Page
- Changed Diagnostics = Loads 3rd party portable applications for each specific task (tools can be changed)
- About Me page gets Twitter / Facebook links (Opens webpage --- tech will have there specific page come up. right now, goes to homepage of facebook/twitter)
- Doubled resolution of buttons for better look
- Added Graphic streaming support for logo
- Added formatting to the PHP Appointment / Rate your tech page, so the email is much more legible when you receive them
- Added behind the scenes "Ping" to application, that calls the IT Administration Tool. So the IT Administration Tool can track how many of these customer apps are open. Which may signal a problem
the customer may have.

(Note: There is no utility to customize the look / feel / promotions / text, etc - HOWEVER - you can provide me a detailed list of what you want, some graphics for logo, etc and I can make it for you.
you can send it to eubank28@gmail.com and would be happy to put it together. The framework is already there, so it only takes a few minutes to do. I would need logos, and if the color theme/brand is different
perhaps background graphic files, etc. your email address to send the information to - for reviews or new appointments. Facebook info, or Twitter info (if any), etc)

3rd Party Tools: In order for the diagnostic portion to work - the 3rd party tools need to be placed into the root Windows folder (thats where it looks for them). I will change the pathing later of course, or change the installer to put the tools there automatically so the tech doesnt have too. The tools themselves go into C:\Windows not the folder "3rd party tools"
The Tech Center Customer Application is meant for Tech's to install on a customers Computer once the job is finished. It provides easy access to your contact / company information, as well as real time updating of your on-going promotions, or Custom Build Computers - which can be changed on the fly for all your customers to see.

It also provides a Diagnostic Utility for customers to troubleshoot and pinpoint easy, or most common issues that can save them time & money!

Another feature is the ability for the customer to Schedule an Appointment through the application (It sends an email by PHP), or a comment.

Note: Not Finished. Im working on the Diagnostic script which is in the form of 2 .BAT Files, 1 VBS file, and 1 C# file. Diagnostic Portion will prompt an error message.

Logo Graphics, Phone Number, Place of buttons can be customized/branded with the Tech's own information

Update your promotions from your own web-server to give your customers the latest and greatest promotional offers and drive sales! Other options is a real time Products / Services page and pricing, or whatever else you want your customers to see.

Note: This will also plug into my other tool for Tech's specifically. The IT Administration Tool - useful for running a Tech business. The IT Administration Tech tool will receive a big update July 25th!

(SEE!! I HAVENT BEEN GONE! JUST BUSY!) ;)

Yes, still open to some ideas on this aspect of development. Any other features you want your customers to utilize or might use? Adding value to your services and company? Suggestions always welcome

I am curious to see what the final outcome looks like, the interface looks nice, I seem to never have much of feedback until I am more hands on into things, good job with the design.

This certainly looks good! As a suggestion, you should add a button that opens a remote control program for when people phone up requesting remote support.

Good luck!

Can a separate button or even on the About Us piece include an area to any social media sites where we can input our FB, Twitter pages info?

Just wanted to say that Norton removed this file after I downloaded it. Its saying that pclabscustomerapp.exe file is bad.

File Actions
File: \downloads\pclabscustomerapp.exe
Removed

I will incorporate these ideas. I'll have it done tonight, and tommorow will release the version 1.0

(Incorporating these features has required me to take additional time, as it would have been released today... but.. NOOOOOOOOOO.. haha)

See you guys tommorow.

as to the inquiry of Norton:

1. Interesting --- Norton is on a lot of customer's computers - but auto deleting? hmm.. I'll look into it. The application is written with Unity 3D Game engine, and has not been a problem in the past

2. Err, on that note. No, There is no virus in it. (dont believe me? well. i dunno what to tell ya. but you can always run it in a VM box/machine)

Update to 1.0

Hey guys, update to 1.0 - lots of changes

Ready to take "orders" for customization if you guys might feel it worthy enough!

Send me Logo / Graphics to implement, an about us I suppose (or it can just be a contact page i suppose)

Email address for : rate a tech / Schedule appointment
Phone number for top header (or wherever)
Address of Shop (If applicable)

Promotions: Promotions are fed into the application by way of remote Graphic files (preferably PNG for transparency) - If you have a graphic or want to make one, and put it on your webserver or a free service, that is fine - I can just link it to that graphic "www.mydomain.com/promotions/promojuly.png

Oh! haha, didnt know you ready for it already - I was just asking if this was the direction you wanted to take,

I can make a build and send you the link in a PM :)

Does this program email you the results of the diagnostics ran by the customer? Along with system specs perhaps? Might be useful in case they end up scheduling an appointment.

On a side note, if it does send you the information, it might not hurt to have a message box popup with your privacy policy prior to sending.

neat idea, as long as it doesn't take away from your pocket.

Is this app still active? I haven't seen anyone post on it lately. I just found this thread and I may be interested. If anyone else has used this, I would like to hear more, before I decide if it's for me.
