Teamviewer 7 Licensing: Hidden Cost

Folked out for teamviewer 6 license not to long ago.

Went to log onto a customers computer who had upgraded to version 7 only to get a message saying I have to purchase an upgrade to version 7 in order to connect to them.

I'm sure I didn't see we will force you to upgrade on the tin when I bought it.

I have TV 6 and I have the TV 6 on my website so it should work. If you send them to the TV website you probably only get TV 7. As far as I am aware my TV 6 will always work at that version for the client. Contact them and ask for the TV 6 client if it is not there.

Just looked on the Teamviewer website TV 6 is there to download for older users.

I search net for previous versions but most of the downloads are for version 7.

I found link under the downloads menu > previous versions.

I got in contact with their support team. They said the program is backwards compatible, but not forwards.

That's what I mean direct your client to version 6

Have had the same issue at a previous employer who had TeamViewer 5 - having same issue when connecting to PC with TV 6+ installed...

Though we had the TV 5 quicksupport module on our website and that is what the person downloaded ... they actually had to UNINSTALL TV6 from their PC (which they used personally, btw) before our TV5 would connect to the TV5 quicksupport module they downloaded from our website.

NOT cool.

Just add TV 6 installer to your website and have your clients download from you.

I just called the TV support website about this issue as I am planning on purchasing 7 soon. The very helpful lady told me that they support the all versions of TV for life. Also there is a license upgrade discount for 70% of the license. She clarified that this means I would only pay 30% of the cost of the new license to upgrade from one version to the next.

Also if you call in and ask about additional discounts they are willing to work on a payment plan for the license.

Whe I signed up for TV a while back that was close to the new version(6) at the time and I got a free upgrade. OP check with Teamviewer about this.

We recently purchased TV6 and a few weeks later TV7 was out. I contacted their customer support team via email about how disappointed we were and the possibility of getting a free upgrade to TV7. Literally 2 minutes later their CS phoned me and told me the license was being upgraded to TV7 for free. Well impressed

Yep, pretty simple solution. Have your branded QS installer on your website or in a dropbox account, the best remote support tool for small operators.
