Tablet recommendations

My old Nexus 7 tablet has seen better days and I suspect is about to give up the ghost. So, I'm in the market for a replacement. It's just used when I'm out and about for checking email, occasional web use - nothing heavy-duty or fancy, so I don't need something that's great for gaming or vid-streaming. On the other hand, it does need to be dependable and durable with a decent battery-life. Not that fussed about the OS although I'm generally not a fan of Apple. Oh - and I'd rather not spend a fortune! Given the number of gadgets currently available, I'm a bit stuck for choice. Just wondering what you folks would recommend?

I sport a Samsung Tab 4 7". Great performance for around $130-$150 brand new. My only gripe with it is the camera quality.

Model SM-T230NU. 4000Mah battery (8-12 hours)

Full specs here.

If this is the model I think it is, the only thing you really need to be concerned with is the power adapters connection point to the tablet. My wife dropped hers a few times in the past (fell asleep while reading) and the power plug was damaged as well as the internal port. Other than that this has been a great Tablet and she really likes it. She has a carry case for it that doubles as a lean-back stand - all made of leather or vinyl.

Thanks both. Mine has a small crack in the screen. It still works, but its general tattiness combined with the crack is making me think a new one is best use of money.

Thanks, all. I think, as nline suggests, I'll wait to see what Google's replacement for the Nexus is like. Word is, release date of 4th October. I hope mine holds together that long!
