Hi :) so I just purchased my very first Synology NAS for home file sharing, and I must confess, I am not very knowlegedable in this, and after searching a bit I could not find the answer I wanted....
I have a MacBook Pro with Big Sur and I want to copy some files from my external drive to my synology, but I did not find any app to do this more efficiently, I am transferring files manually with finder (yeah!), shouldn't be a app to manage this better? Like FTP transfer where I could select all the files I want to transfer all at once?

Thanks for the help guys :)

You have to setup file sharing to include both SMB and AFP. I haven't checked mine recently but I don't think they have support yet for AFPS. Which means you first have to create a logical volume from physical drives. Enable file sharing and create share points. You also want to add users since you don't want to have it wide open. Which model did you get? That'll impact your redundancy.

thanks for the reply, i got the DS218j, i will have to research on how to do all that, but at least i know what to look for :)

Since that's a two drive system I'd only use mirroring for drive setup.

Fixed it but now a new problem emerges... via Wi-Fi I can't transfers files without always loosing connection... tried plugging the usb external but because it's APFS file format it does not read.... any thoughts?

Update: one of the WD RED HD's is giving me bad sectors, probably that's why I am not able to copy the files... running diagnostics right now...

Bad sectors in of itself won't prevent copying. Now if the drive is really going down the tubes, bad sectors being just one indicator, that might cause it. Fortunately Synology has some fairly decent logging for things like this.

Yep sure enough when the test finished the 2nd HD failed, already removed it, but seeing the NAS and macOS (via wifi) are not working properly, and I don't have any ethernet adapter for my MacBook Pro 2015 I've already started copying the files I want to and external SSD (formatted in HFS+) and now I will copy everything via usb... anyone using NAS Synology with Big Sur?
