Symantec confirms hacker theft of Norton anti-virus source code

Symantec has confirmed that a “segment” of its flagship Norton anti-virus product’s source code was leaked onto the web this week.

The firm said that the code relates to two older enterprise products, one of which is no longer in production. But it said the breach was on a third-party network rather than its own, and will “not affect any current Norton product”.

Heh....hmmm. Older products..but I'm going to guess quite a bit is still in use. I'll bet we see some malware that quite easily seeks out and disables those Symantec products soon.

Eh, hackers have been doing just fine already without the source code and/or simply reverse engineering.

The hackers have not released the code online yet. I think Symantec does not really know what the hackers have access to. I could be mistaken though
