Sued by employer

Back in the '90s a local private school here in Hawaii was nailed by the BSA for having unlicensed software on (I think it was) 6 computers. After the audit and negotiations were completed the fine was a 6 figure amount.

That being said, the BSA goes after companies, not individuals. You should be OK but I think that your boss probably reacted in this manner because he either knows of or had previous dealings with the BSA.

Forgive me for sounding a little doubtful here, but I've had former employees and contractors try to screw me before. They all lost. I feel like we're not getting the entire story with this one. You put a bogus copy of photoshop on a client computer, got caught, and now, all of a sudden, your employer is withholding your payment and possibly trying to sue you? You want your back pay? Quite frankly, if one of my subs did this, not only would I withhold his pay, I would sue the sub for breaching the contract, soliciting other work, and for damage to my reputation. I would turn him into Adobe and every other authority I could file a report with. Then I would spend every waking moment making sure that the entire area knew what you did until no one for 100 miles would even think of letting you near their computer.

That being said, the whole story makes no sense. If the guy only needed photoshop temporarily, why didn't you just download the trial? Adobe has almost all their products available for trial download.

If I got this wrong, the I apologize. However, the story just doesn't make much sense, and you haven't been here long enough for me to know you and take you at face value.

angry_geek, you certainly don't have your facts straight. I was going to be offended but then I saw your user name and realized anger is in your blood. Have you looked into anger management?
