Hello. Ty to take the time to read this post. I'm frustrated, I can't find any answer for my laptop situation. My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV5 1119nr, 4gb ram, Windows vista. I clean every dust. I just open the laptop and take apart everything and clean every part. I replace a few pieces for new ones. The fan is new, the HDD, the battery, the power cord and the thermal compound. Also im using an external cooler fan. I did the recovery, the windows now is like from fabric.

The problem is, when the laptop is loading windows sudden turn off. Is not a loading shutdown, no, is just an abrupt turn off when loading Windows. Sometimes the loading make it through the desktop and then shutdown for no reason. No, is not a heat situation. I can run the diagnosis for 3 hours and the laptop keep running like nothing but when I try to run normally she just turn off abruptly. Btw the diagnosis says everything is fine. So no clue here. It is the motherboard? If so, how can I test the motherboard? This was happend before replace the parts and keep doing the same with the brand new parts. Im been looking on internet for my situation and I can not find anything. No one know whats going on to my laptop, even the CompUSA technicians. Any advice will be appreciate. I working to run my own bussiness and I don't want a coustomer asking me this particular situation and me without knowledge

Boot on safe mode. If it works, then most likely a driver issue.

Boot with another OS/Hiren. If it's stay up and solid then your installed OS might be corrupted.

Also check for rootkit/virus

It's an HP DV5, which is known to have GPU related heat issues. Look into that.

I did everything before coming here. Try safe mode. Change OS. Change HD... ect., ect. Nothing change the situation. Is not a heat problem because when Im running the diagnosis the laptop stay on. And BTW, for those who have mental powers and they claim to know everything about me :P I have news, in the next months I will be certified in A+, plus I have experience repairings PC thank you :D

You mean in a few months you will take your A+ test. Everyone has experience repairing pc's. A cabby who drives me to the bank once a week is also A+ and loves to fix computers. ;)

And? Whats your point? Im not your cabby. If he want to stay only with that, ok. But dont come here to say this guy is not even trying to be a technician, because your cabby have an A+? Im not him. So keep your posts with common sense

Lots of people come here with their personal computer problem, but when people remind them this is for technicians or people starting a business then EVERYONE claims "Oh, I am going to become a technician".

The point about the cabby is that huge numbers of people take the A+ (or say they are going to) but that doesn't mean you are a technician.

Look at all the people with college degrees who do nothing with them. Should they be able to go into forums for professionals and tell everyone they are a tech or going to become one ? NO.

You're first and only post is asking for help with YOUR own computer. If we helped everyone who did that we would just be majorgeeks.com

I post my personal laptop problem because I tried almost everything BEFORE come here to "ask for help", knowing that this is not a regular problem and could contribute to the community with this special case. Is not only asking for help, is asking for SUPPORT for what this forum was intended. So I put in practice my knowledge and that obviously was not enough. Even the CompUSA techs dont know whats happening with my laptop. So if you have some info can address me to fix this problem i will appreciated that. Btw Im studying in Anthem College computer networking and security and soon enough running my own bussiness as a computer technician

You are replacing parts for no reason. Why did you replace the battery ? Did you check the HD to see if it was bad before replacing that ? You don't mention what if anything you did with ram (replacing it, removing one stick at a time, etc).

Did you try to boot in low resolution mode and see if that worked.

Too many questions to ask and that's why a person who is not a tech should really not be asking for help here.

You are not going to get much help in diagnosing the motherboard, that's advanced tech and you really should consider letting a professional laptop repair technician (not some dummy at CompUSA) look at it.

Ya. Case closed. It is indeed to many questions. and yes I tried low resolutions. Ty anyways. I will use this forum only to collect info.
P.D. just now I found the posible problem and apparenlty related to the graphic chip

Not to jump on you here, but that is precisely the point jimbo is making. Just about any tech who's been doing this longer than 6 months knows about the history of hp dv series machines. Combine that with the little info about yourself you've offered here at TN and your communication abilities, it makes us very leery.
