I can ping the server windows 10 pro, on client windows 10 pro i can see others on the network but i can't access via \\server i get a the specified server name is not longer available.
Both are on same WORKGROUP.
pre 2004.

Workstations, no true server OS, thus no active directory, thus no local DNS service managing the network, importantly...master browser.

Start looking at what might be running local DNS, how to manage master browser in an unmanaged workgroup.

I have reset the network adapters and checked share settings and removed network drivers then re-installed driver also have reset the the router and switches this happened right after windows 10 update 4 machines just could not reach the server but could see each other.

What is serving DNS is a router tried to reset that as well as server i told them they should be using a server based os on the server but i am just a trouble shooter for another tech that could not figure it out.

After resetting the network adapters 3 of the 4 machines started working again but one did not.

I get called in alot for other businesses that can`t figure out the issue with over 34 years experience i have seen it all other computer stores and even geek squad call me usually i fix issue in 10 mins and collect my fee.

A recent Windows update turned off SMB file sharing which sounds like your trying to do. Windows 10 to a Windows 10 share. You can turn it back on in 'programs and features' but it was turned off for a major security reason.

If its not that you may have the ethernet connections set to public which will muck shares up sometimes as it is reading different rules for a public vs private network share.

Your "After resetting the network adapters 3 of the 4 machines started working again but one did not." leads me to think it is the second option on the last machine.

Do you know which update this was?
