What do you guys use for storing old laptop parts e.g cases, hinges, keyboards , etc. I am using storage boxes at the minute but nearly impossible to find anything when your looking for it. I would like to hear what you guys are using as my workshop is a total mess. Most of my problem is I hate throwing anything out, if i dont get it sorted i will have to take a trip to the dump. I know as soon as i do someone will come into shop looking for a left hinge or a broken screen cover or something.

It is SOOO easy to be a computer parts packrat. I know, someone will want that $2 part as soon as you get rid of it!

I say ebay it. That's probably your greatest chance to find someone who could use it. If it doesn't sell, then you can take it to the dump or an electronics recycling center in good conscience. Of course then you have to deal with shipping a bunch of $2 parts and you have to decide if it's worth the time you put in with pictures, listing auctions, packing, and shipping to even bother.

I have been having the same issue as you (sorry I don't have a good solution). I have been throwing away a lot of old parts lately, as my workshop was just too messy.

One of those small organizer units with the plastic drawers might be useful for organizing certain parts.

Personally I use cardboard boxes. I bought some to fit my shelve unit and I usually put each one into their own box and mark on it the model etc. I also box separately the screens, chargers etc.
I find it really useful as often I get a laptop in with missing keys or something similar and I can just scavenge parts to put on as an extra. Creates a good impression I think....
