Steve Jobs Update

Steve Jobs, you either love him or hate him. I actually never met him so its hard for me to form an opinion of him. I believe he is probably very intelligent and very eccentric. I've always been a Steve Wozniak fan. He was co-founder of Apple and got out when it became too much politics. To this day even though he is a long time friend of Jobs, he's not afraid to say what he really thinks in regards to Apples corporate decisions. Apple has shrouded any issues with Job's health or future with Apple in secrecy because they don't want shareholders to freak out and do anything drastic. I think Apple is starting to ween themselves from Job's iconic persona due to the fact he's been gone on a few medical leaves of absence and the company is holding up strong. I'm sure if Bill Gates announced he was retiring from Microsoft and would have no further involvement with the company, M$ would also fear a shareholder revolt.

Correct, but far from being uninvolved in any of M$'s decisions. Jobs hasn't been involved in Apples day to day operations for the last 6 months.
...and that's every reason to wish him a speedy recovery back to full health. When he left Apple previously they suffered badly as a company and came close to folding.

Like him or not..nobody can deny his genius within his own field. No criticisms here..just an honest Get Well Soon mate..from me. Too often the owner/founder is credited (or discredited) with the decisions made by a majority vote from a board of directors who remain fairly obscure, leaving the Man-in-the-Picture the one to take the heat on unpopular decisions.Steve Jobs and Big Bill are two good examples of this. None of us can honestly claim to have never made a decision we regret later and I'm sure the same can be said of any CEO/Founder/Owner. The exception that proves the rule,of course, would have to be Sol Trujillo, lol, and not only thank the gods he's gone but may we add here in Aus.---DON"T CALL US etc...:D

I could not have said it much better myself.

From what I have seen and read about Jobs, I think our personalities would clash if I ever met him.

Another reason I hate corporations. When rumors of Jobs health hit, the stock tanked. The PR guys dashed out and told us it was just fatigue and he would be taking some time off to recuperate. The forgot to mention the new liver I guess.

They are congenitally incapable of the truth - hence the current mess.

Oh yeah, sing it, brother. Being self-employed, I'm all in favour of free enterprise, but many of today's large/multinational corporations are a very good advertisement for a state controlled economy.
