Not sure where to post this. Figure this is the best spot.

I just wanted to give people a heads up about a program called Start8 by StarDock. Adds a start menu to Windows 8 and forces a desktop load on start-up. Been using it and works flawlessly. Fairly cheap too.

I'd tried ViStart but it just seemed to lock up a lot. I've been running Classic Shell for a week or so now and it's been pretty flawless.

Agreeing in spirit with the "use search first" crowd here.

On the other hand, I either hadn't heard of Classic Shell or just wasn't paying attention. Either way, this thread prompted me to try it (thanks for the link Jimbo) and I like it a lot.

Now my Win 8 machine is "normal." Or at least close to it.
