Standalone exe vm machine does it exist?

Is there a way to take a vm and create say a stand alone exe that could be placed on a desktop by clicking on it launches the VM and OS without having to install software?.
Would be nice if something like this existed.

That would be one big .exe. It would be interesting to find something like that, but personally I found come across something like that, maybe because something like that does not exist yet.
What are you trying to accomplish with this?
 
If you need the OS for software compatibility reasons why not try VMware ThinApp or portable virtualbox?
You might also take a look at prayaya, not messed around with it much.

You get virtualised applications. Depends what you want the end functionality to be.
 
Well, technically...it does exist but not like you're asking. The problem with a single stand-alone EXE is that you'd be running a very simple VM with a very simply OS or it'd be HUGE.

There are things like Moka5 LivePC Engine that will run off a flash drive, without being installed, though. That's probably exactly in line with what you're asking, I think...just not exactly how you asked it.
