As a computer tech, what backup program have you found most useful/ effective.

Personally i use teracopy because it Light and portable and quick. Sometimes i use the built in windows copier for small backups 1-3gigs but when it comes to larger backups i use Teracopy.

TeraCopy as well.

I was using TeraCopy but starting with Windows 7, I found it just skipping stuff seemingly randomly. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to the logs and should have known what was skipped.

Those of you that are happy with it, have you found it to work reliably under Windows 7? Do you try copying an entire volume with it, or just stuff from the user folder? (I often make a folder called c:\old_pc_backup and copy ALL the stuff from their old hard drive into there so that if we later discover I missed copying something they need I can just go into that folder and grab it for them)

In situations like this rather then wasting customers drive space I just use driveimage xml and image the whole drive to my file server.

Before i started to become more professional ( before i found technibble) I used to backup the customers data on their hard dive by creating a backup folder usually C:Backup. it worked in only the cases were there wasnt much data, but when it comes to teenagers, that method DOES NOT WORK and we know why for obvious reasons.
SO now i have a 1000GB hard drive handy to take care off all that.
