Something about this PC Repair Website bothers me

Sure, I admit he probably shouldn't have used a template word-for-word that tons of other websites use, but it is in no way any sort of reflection on how he conducts his business or how he treats his clients or even his personal beliefs of how his competitors operate. The fact that you and others on this forum have taken this and basically said he has no idea what he is doing, that he doesn't respect his fellow techs, that he has false testimonies on his website, etc etc. is simply pure ignorance. Sure it may (unlikely) be all true, but you can't come to these conclusions based on if someone uses a template or not. All he is doing is letting someone else who is better than himself at marketing take over his campaigns. I am sure he also doesn't write his own virus definitions and probably uses Google to research problems. All of us would be out of business if nobody made use of someone else's expertise.

I am more interested in hearing if the program actually works rather than insulting him for using it.

Personally I think that if you want to be seen as a respected business you would not use a program or template or anything that can associate you with many bad businesses. Personally I don't care if it works because I don't want my good name to be associated with company's that take advantage of people.

If it looks like a cat, smells like a cat, and sh!ts in the sand. Its probably a cat.

I am out of popcorn, people!!!

lol, I have a feeling you better run to the store. :D

I sent that guy a nasty email and this is what he replied with.

I told him he should be ashamed of bad mouthing his fellow computer techs and he asked me to point out what negative things he had said. So I pointed the first paragraph on his main page.

-------------------------------

Hello Ron,

Steven forwarded me over your email about our website. It is seldom that I
answer my own email any more being as busy as I am, but I chose to answer
yours because it really stood out to me.

Often our resellers (other IT companies) ask us how we got so big so fast,
since we now have 15 IT guys on staff and do a little over $3 million a
year in sales, which I hope to triple this year. Hence my posting for a
sales guy to set up and lead a sales team to take over the sales role so
my techs and I no longer have to do it. But yes, they ask, "How did you
grow a 3 million dollar company in only a year?"

Well, the answer is good mentors. I don't take credit, I had help, and
LOTS of it. My good friend that has owned and operated a 600 employee for
the last 30 years once asked me, "What is your competitive advantage?"
"Why would your customers buy from you and not from your competitors?"
Well at the time I did not have the answer.

But then I thought about it, thought long and hard. Sadly the answer was,
"I don't know." "Why should my customers buy from me." So I started asking
my customers, "Why do you buy from me?"

Wow was this shocking and revealing. It had nothing to do with price. It
wasn't because I was better than the next IT guy. No it was much simpler.
"Because you are easy to get a hold of and come out the same day I call.",
"Because you give me a fixed price and don't bill me for time even though
it sometimes takes you longer than you think." "Because you are always on
time and seek to first understand what it is I am trying to do in my
business before trying to offer me the solution."

It was answers like these that really got me thinking. So, since new
prospective clients did not know me, my business, or anything about our
company, I set out to change that.

Hence the main page. I took the customer's frustrations, stated them,
showing that I understood my customers, and then showed them my
competitive advantage.

It has nothing to do with "bad mouthing" other IT guys, I even state "It
just amazes me how arrogant some computer technicians are", keyword being
some. But it has everything to do with conveying to the customer that you
understand their frustrations, and that you are different in a positive
way.

If you can figure out how to convey your competitive advantage to your
customers and show them that you understand their frustrations, then you
will never have to worry about what other IT companies have posted on
their websites again, you will be too busy hiring on staff to keep up with
the new customer demands.

Anyways, I wish the the very best in 2010, and hope it is a lucrative and
productive year for you.

Best Regards,

Aaron Wyman

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP....

Hello Ron,

Steven forwarded me over your email about our website. It is seldom that I
answer my own email any more being as busy as I am,
I stopped reading right there. This 'programme' thing seems to employ the same brainwashing techniques as religious cults, these guys get to the point where they cannot comprehend a world outside of their own.

@IAMPC

i am curious to see your email.
you mind sharing?

Also, if you make $3 M a year...at least upgrade your site man!
LOL:eek:

First email:
Aaron,

Just wanted to let you know that you are a complete IDIOT for bad mouthing other techs just to make a buck. I love the amount of BS you put on your web site too. Shame on you.

Ron

His reply from Blackberry meaning he is one or two man shop like me and he doesn't have the staff to answer his phone, etc...

Dear Ron,

As a senior tech here at Neighborly PC Help, I would like to know what specifically you found offensive about our companies website?

Can you provide a link to the page you were viewing and specifically quote what you deemed to be offensive so that we can have our web designer change this content?

That would be very helpful to our company.

The only thing I can personally think of is our companies approach to preventive maintenance which improves client relations and eliminates down time and liabilities on both sides. Business owners love this approach our managed services offers, and it is a better way of doing business that many IT companies, (especially the smaller ones fail to do, which is why we offer it in our www.neighborlypchelp.com/reseller.htm program).

Anyways I am very curious to know what you found offensive, so please get back to me, ASAP.

Sincerely,

Steven Wilcox

My replay back to him before he sent that long email that I copied first...

Why don't your read what you said at the very first part of your "main" page.

---------------------------------------------------
Dear Fellow Business Owner:

It just amazes me how arrogant some computer technicians are.

When you call them for help, you end up talking to their voice mail. Then when you finally get them on the phone, they make you wait days before they can actually come out to see you. Once they arrive they spend hours and hours trying to fix your problems knowing all the while the longer they take to fix them, the more money they make. And they wonder why our industry has such a poor reputation.
-------------------------------------------------

Unlike other technicians who profit from the failures in your IT environment

--------------------------------------------------

Bad mouthing your fellow techs might get you couple of more phone calls, but in the long run, you are shooting yourself in the foot. It is a dirty way of promoting yourself and you know it too.

Ron

LOL!!! I thought this thread was done, but I guess not-:)

Seriously though, his website has way toooooo much information to read, click on and go through. If a customer needs computer repair, they need someone to help them right away, they don't have time to read through a bunch of stuff. That's a turnoff for me.

And I also don't like the comparing to other techs, putting them down. Sure, some may be like that, but not all so him making a statement like that is not cool and again, he's too wordy with it. He 'talks too much' on his website!

Elmdee: I have a bag of Kettle Korn popcorn, you wanna share?

his web "template based" prices are insane

Template/Theme Design:

In Home or Office In Store Phone / Online $3,499.99 - - - - -"""""

For template based my company maxes at $1,000... and thats if no pictures, content, etc. were provided.

Okay....now, this is just borderline fraud or con artist! This is giving me a cringing feeling when I see this. I think this is a site/company that would never pass any "Standards" inspection if there was anything that could hold them to standards....so sad. This is EXACTLY why I got into this business so I could offer authentic one-on-one computer repair and guys like these are EXACTLY the asses that give our industry a bad name. 3 Million a year? I bet that was part of a "Perfect Response No Matter The Request" template/script....UGH

I received a letter today from Citi. It started like this:

"Why do other cards make cash back so complicated? It's simple with the Citi CashReturns Card."

"No other card rewards you on every eligible transaction the way Citi CashReturns does."

"Other cards restrict how much cash back you can earn...."

The amount of disrespect to their competitors is amazing!

You guys are seriously taking this way off into left field. Using canned text isn't fraud.
