I have hired my first employee, he is starting just a few hours a week. His first task was to redo my website.

I think he did a great job! We both added some gizmos and he created a facebook, google+, and linkedin site as well. So far the kid is doing real good!

What do you guys think?

Not a fan of all gray text on white background. The CAT5 cables mean nothing unless you know what they are, but might also make someone think you are just a network related company/provider.

When I see a "Welcome to our website" it looks very ten-years-old. You don't have something that GRABS their attention.

Most sites are like this: We are doing the same thing that everyone else does but for some reason we are better." Doesn't make me want to use those companies.

That's all from me for now. :p

ps- is this a "hidden" forum, if not, it should be.....

I agree with you on the "Welcome to..." I swapped it for our more generic logo.

How did you know they were CAT5? I stick with 5e or 6... :D We only serve businesses, I don't think the cables are too far out of the realm of familiarity for the people that would be contacting us. On the other hand, I have a client that is convinced he has a copy of QuickenBooks.

I like the color scheme and the simplicity of the site. Nothing flashy going on.

Suggestions:

1) Like NYJimbo said, the eithernet cables may not be the best image. Try not going for a stock image, take your own pictures. I'm going to be doing this on my our site soon. Maybe if you have a team of techs, take a group picture in your shop or something.

2) The menu doesn't really stand out, and I'm not sure why. To some people who know nothing about websites or computers, may not be able to find your menu. It looks like normal text and nothing sets it apart. I was almost thinking that the menu should go in that blue bar that you have right below it, but I like that bar the way it is. My suggestion is to do something, what I have no idea. :P Look around at other sites, such as these (1, 2, 3) to get some ideas.

3) What's your business name? Tap Tech or Tap Tech IT? I seem 6 references on the homepage without scrolling. At the top you got Tap Tech IT, the banner says Tap Tech, but on the blue box on the right you have Tap Tech IT in small letters.

4) Consider changing the title "TAP Tech – Complete Business IT Services" to something more meaningful to the visitor. You already have your name everywhere. Maybe change that title to "What We Do" or something along those lines.

5) Down at the footer of the site, it has a stamp saying it's a wordpress theme and links to the author, while I'm sure the author loves the credit, I would remove that if I were you. Security reasons. Although your site may be WordPress, you don't want to announce that to the world. Use a file editor and take it out if there is no theme option to remove that. It's probably going to be in a file called "footer.php."

Truly not a bad looking site, but does need some changes. Actually better than most sites people put up. Take care, man.

Website

Nice page overall. I like the colors, and the simplicity, but I'm not sure what to think about the necessity to scroll down in order to read all content. I read somewhere that you should try to keep main pages to one screen, and only articles to scroll down length.
