Simple Help release

Do you use it? I trialed it a while back and liked the built in diag and troubleshooting tools, but didn't end up buying it when the trial expired. I'm interested in getting some comments from others who use it as to their experience and opinion .

We have used simplehelp for years as our backup remote support tool . As have described it before it it like the Toyota pickup truck of remote support, there are faster, more glitzy, and higher specced out there but you just know when there snow And ice on the roads it's going to be the one to start first time then get you home.

I have been using for the past two years and I do not have any complaints. I just recently upgraded to the latest version and haven't really played around with enough to be able to comment on it. The only minor gripe I had concerning the upgrade is that all the persistent PC connections have to be updated before you can connect to them. However the persistent gateway update can be done from the technician console and it is pretty quick.

How does this compare with ScreenConnect in terms of issues with antivirus programs blocking the client software and issues with missing Java and Dot Net?
(just asked as these were two things I came up against during my trial of Screenconnect)

screenconnect i cant compare with (they wont let me trial it), but AV never had a problem with any blocking, java/.net on older version was a link asking browser to download (not came across in latest version yet will test hava just now)

but like all remote software it not perfect and has quirks i would advise if considering it then your best to download a trial and see if you get along with it.

ok just ran on a vista pc (if gonna be a problem it will be on that heap of an OS) with no java and no .net was no problems controlling it (granted was only a 5 min test but it installed and worked fine)

I have never had an issue with an AV blocking SimpleHelp.

However, one of my clients installs their own Java updates using the automated feature in Java itself..
For some reason, each of these recent Java updates causes the SimpleHelp service to fail with a .dll error.
I have not researched the issue.
Instead I use NiNite.com to update the Java and then SimpleHelp operates properly.
