Simple-Help.com

sorry all, but looking for a solution that does not install an app on client computer, and just use weblink from my website to connect.

Nope, no idea. Never heard of that company and don't know of anything that doesn't install on client's machine. I use GoToAssist Express, and while it DOES install, there's an option to auto-uninstall once the remote is done.

awwwlrighty then.....anyone???
I have been running the trial for a while.
I like many of its features and have found that it is missing some - but no deal breakers yet.
The clients that I tested with all had Java installed and enabled.
They found that connecting was super easy and that the connection did not drop.
There are some members here using it but there are no discussion groups on the simple-help.com site.
Like you, I have not been able to find reviews by techs outside of this site.
Perhaps, I am just searching with the wrong search terms :o

I think that every remote support program has the possibility of not connecting to the client due to Java being disabled, ActiveX issues, anti-malware programs, firewall, etc.
As an example, I currently have a GoToAssist Express subscription and about half my clients have issues at one or another connecting.
It is a feature-rich support tool but is very frustrating for both my clients and myself.
I will probably *not* renew my annual subscription.

You do know that even without java you can connect with standalone version for client, win, mac.

Turn off java on client machine and connect as client, you will be given option to download a standalone version no java required. These files are also in the install folder on server.

As a started package you can't go wrong, as you get bigger then invest in one of the more expensive solutions.

I am not associated with them in any way but when i have contacted them i found them very friendly and quick to reply.

I tried Logmein Rescue's trial. It's very nice. Dead simple but, at the moment, out of my price range for that need.

I'm currently using a customized version of Single Click VNC. One small file for download/running. When they run it, it opens a window on my desktop for me to accept the connection and begin the remote.
I might script a wrapper around it to allow for a scheduled appt and dropping a few files. Downside: it doesn't support reconnect-on-reboot but, for regular reboot, it's not hard to add the same file to the autorun list.

The standalone version was just introduced with 3.8 within the last week or so, correct?
With the standalone version on the client side and the java on the tech work together?

Just testing it, but yes that is how it appears.

I just finished a 21 day trial.
Most of the diag features did not work on a netbook XP Home client.
Just curious if you know the answer to this one:
Is there any communication at any point between *my server* and the servers at Simple-Help?
Or, to put the question another way ... if Simple-Help goes under or their server is down - does it affect my ability to provide support to my clients?

Good know about the netbook issue, have you reported it to them?

As if there is a call home feature, that i don't know but i believe the licence is file you upload to server!!!! If then i imaging not but best to asked them, or set your host file to send their domain to black hole and do a test.

To be honest as far remote solutions goes this is not expensive, and seems good for what it is.

Yes, I advised them of the netbook issues - no reply.
