no I'm not leaving the forums, but I've been admitted to hospital this morning with kidney stones.

suffered since Mon with rhem but this morning it was unimaginable pain.

I have a small one on my left and a large one and a number of smalls on my right.

not sure what treatment or when it'll happen. but I won't be able to check out the forum as much as I normally would.

Bryce is aware.

cheers all.

Man, I feel your pain. Been there, done that ... twice! The first time the stones (there were two) passed by themselves, but the last time I had to have surgery. Not a fun time. The good news is that it's a fairly routine procedure for a urologist, so you should be up and "kicking" quickly.

Best of luck and a speedy recovery. I had a friend years ago who got them. At the time they had been pushing ultrasonic to break them up. But he said it was still very painful.

That's a bummer about the kidney stones. I had gallstones many years ago and they removed my gallbladder which sucks in its self. The normal treatment for kidney stones is waiting until you pass them if they are not too big or the use sonic waves to break them up so you can pass them. Either way, it hurts like crazy until they pass and be ready to be asked to urinate through a strainer until they pass so they know they have.

Nige is going to go stir crazy in the hospital he would wished he had a laptop with him.
My laptop and phone is the first thing I grab if I am going to be admitted.

Nige, so sorry to hear this. I've heard kidney stones are excruciatingly painful. I have no desire to find out for myself, though. Take care of yourself, take your meds, and get well soon!

thanks all.

I saw the ct results this morning.

basically I gave 1 x 5mm stone in my left.
1 x 9.1mm stone in my right, another 5mm stone in my right. and lots of smaller ones in the right.

no way on the face of this earth will I pass them all, so booked in for a stent procedure this morning.
