Software or Server section..not sure where to open thread..so here it is in software.

SBS2003r2. Comes with Sharepoint 2.0 out of the box. Upgraded to 3.0

Not a lot of my clients actually use Sharepoint from the outside, but I have one client that is turning into quite a Sharepoint heavy user..including from outside the office.

Their complaint...(but I believe it's default behavior for this version of Sharepoint )...their complaint is, they log in...(challenge 1)...and each and every time they open/save/download/upload an Office document..they get re-challenged their domain user/pass.

I've read tips about leaving an office program running..minimized on the task bar, after working with the first document. I guess to hold the "session" open.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a tip/trick to turn off the constant challenges for each document that gets worked on...without dropping security
of the site and its contents.

That is not normal.

Have you checked the Authentication methods for IIS? Sounds like IIS is re-prompting every time...

Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manger > Select the Server > Sites > [Your Sharepoint Website Name]

In the IIS Grouping > Authentication

Ensure you have Windows Authentication Enabled

If you still have a problem, mess with the different providers for Windows Authentication... (there are only about 3 of them)

Thanks for the reply..confirmed that Windows Authentication was checked. Tried Digest.....still no luck.
