Selling Services on Amazon

Still waiting, not really caring quite yet. I did see tv mounting service offer available when I bought a TV off Amazon last night, $199 included mount. Interesting....

We got setup but didn't have to send any insurance documents. We have general liability and all required insurance but I'm pretty sure Amazon didn't ask us for it. No leads yet BTW.

Applied the day it came out and was approved early in the week. Been too busy to delve into it to set it up yet, hoping to get it rolling this weekend. I can only assume the pizza tech low price competition will be high. Will be interesting to follow this thread and others and see how everyone is fairing with results from this.

It looks to me like this is probably mostly good for metro areas for now...and they sure don't seem to be marketing it. I think I'll wait.

I received an email from Amazon last month and they noted that will start advertising the services towards the end of April.
The email goes something like this ......make sure your rested by {date} because we expect a lot of request.....

I was able to easily qualify, but things might change once they have enough Service Providers. I suggest for people who hasn't sign up to do so in case their policy change and harder to qualify. You got nothing to lose except your time.

They also provide a national price range. This will give you some idea if your rate is to high or too low. It a huge range but definitely not pizzaguys rate. Kinda low for It Consulting firm but then again their target is residential.

Btw, the system will ask for liability insurance but it's not mandatory. You can skip the insurance and they will manually bypass it for you. But I recommend you protect yourself with a liability insurance

So, almost 3 weeks out, anyone seeing an activity from this? Nothing on my end.. I had almost forgotten about it!

Unless they email every one of their clients about it, I don't think it will take off. I'm still in the zone of they don't know what to do with me, and I too have forgot about it.

We just recently enrolled and have gotten a couple Wireless Printer Setup Jobs. Not much of an option for remote but as @CLC was mentioning Amazon has been big on our advertisement and has really helped bring customers in.

Amazon Services is really new yet - give it time. I've heard they're expanding this into the any/all home services similar to what you may find on something like Angie's List. I would imagine the insurance and background checks will become a bigger deal as Amazon attaches there name to the services.

Same situation here! We're around a large metro area and it doesn't seem like they are advertising this platform at all yet. We've even received emailed asking us to sign up for a seller account even though we're already in.

I'll update if we see any changes but so far there are no hits from clients and only a couple other shops are signed up.

They're stuck on my background check. I sent the info requested, but didn't hear anything. So I contacted them about it, they replied saying if I could send in the background documents... really?

If they're that inept, it just bodes upon things to come. Depending on the reply, if any, I may be with Lisa on this one - jumping ship from Amazon seller services.

Good luck to anyone else signing up for this service!

Amazon submits your info to Accurate Background Inc., a 3rd party. Then you fill out MORE info with them. I do 99% of work at my location, so this is really only for those going to people's homes. Had I known that, I wouldn't have continued with it... Accurate Background wants your SS#, and some other info, but gives the option to provide a driver's license # instead, so I did that. Then I'm stuck in limbo again. A.B. says to contact Amazon now, and Amazon says to contact A.B.!

I'm going to leave it as it is now, as my info is currently setup for in-store only. However, Amazon needs to change things for the process.... Not only that, but I found out that you set up the pricing as an estimate for your services, then when it's a different cost, submit a change order or some thing like that, and then submit the payment details to the customer.

This whole thing is just a big pain in the ass ---

In the UK they just emailed me, to say the are freezing the astore service, where you could create your on Amazon Store, soon you will only be able to login, but not make any updates.

Which makes me think they will eventually close it. This is mine http://www.activeits.co.uk/store.htm, which I get some commission on everything sold, and they do everything for me.

Yep, hasn't hurt my business not marketing with them lol. As I said before, this reminds me of FedEx getting into tech support. Stick to what you do well and do that only...or add on services that make sense. They should get into gift wrapping and stuff like that.

As a follow-up to anyone still wondering about this service:

We got accepted pretty quick. The other few providers are unknown to us. Possibly 1 man shops looking to get a start. We seem to be the only "recognized" local brand.

Anyway, we've gotten two requests through Amazon over 45 days in a large metro area. Amazon takes a 20% cut. You must have a signed invoice/work order to check out the ticket and get paid by Amazon.

I'll post back if things pick up but so far it has not been a significant source of new business.

Is Fedex still in tech support lol?
