Selling Services on Amazon

Rosco, they haven't approved me yet either and I'm not sure of their process. Since CLC got approved, I am guessing they are not sure of "remote" so I will let you know if/when I hear back.
 
I signed up for onsite and they did not approve me. But they are beta so I'm sure it's a small, statistically significant geographic sampling.
 
Well I got in but I still have this message in my services seller account.

"Business Background Check status : Pending"

I did however sign up around Christmas though so who knows how long it will take. I think it has everything to do with your location as far as acceptance goes.

I have now been fully approved. It looks like I am the only one in my area on there. They actually had a 3rd party company call me for the background check, etc. Now I need to update my available services on the site...

Also, it doesn't look like Amazon is really advertizing the services yet, as its hard to find in general as a whole.

Approval seems going a lot faster. I apply a couple days ago. Got a call for background check and today it shows Background Check Approved.
I think they are just making sure the phone number your provided is correct :)

I only sign up for in-home service. The Jobs are already build in, just have have to put your price.
I'm debating if I will be offering on-site virus removal. I usually ask the client to drop the computer.

I saw a few advertising at a low price. Will see how that will work out. I'll stick with my own pricing plus bump a few dollar to cover the additional cost. I did see some prices that are way to much. Like computer setup for $350.

Just remember, it's a marketing funnel. You pay for a client once. Then it's all you.

I'm working with Amazon right now on some other things, so I have nothing to report yet. I guess I picked the right door, I'm on a beta team for some elite services. I'll wait that out!

I agree with you 100%. Sometimes I offer free consulting just to get my foot in the door.

Another thing I was thinking is to sneak in remote access when scheduling. Let say both of you are busy and the next available schedule is xx days, You can mention, how about if I do it now remotely. The only concern is they need to sign the ticket and not sure how to do that remotely.

I have a feeling that's what your working on. I'm sure you will let the group know.

I have had one job from this. The client purchased a printer from Amazon and they had a link to include setup/install at checkout,which they clicked. It takes about 2 weeks to get paid.
 
Update,

As of this morning, my profile is available online. There's approx 10 to 15 services for onsite. I enable them all except for MAC.
There are approx 10 zip codes that only list me as a service provider and I'm in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area. The only competition I see on my region is Disk Network. They have approx 250+ reviews and they only charge $10 to $20 more. Will see how it goes.

Frick, how long have you been advertising before you get your first service call? My understanding is that when your done, you bring up an app on your phone and they sign it. Do you still write up a work order?
 
I haven't done any advertising with Amazon. My only job was as I described in my last post, it was an add on service offered by Amazon.

Once someone requests the service you get notified and set up an appointment via the website. Once the work is done you have them sign via a mobile site provided by Amazon.

I don't think Amazon is currently promoting or providing these services directly as I was unable to find them listed by searching the site. That may be due to it being listed as a beta offering for my state.
 
anyone else get a job from this yet. what was your experience? I am listed but haven't gotten a job yet.
 
We applied for in store services shortly after this thread was started and we got approved almost immediately, but I have not seen any leads from it yet.
 
I'm still working on my thing too, they called the other day but didn't call back yet. I don't think this is being marketed much so the average person doesn't even know.
 
I buy a lot from amazon and I get two or three emails a week asking if I want myself to do a professional install. So the emails are going out but haven't got a job from it yet.

If i put in computer repair, there are multiple listings for my zip code for almost everything you can think of - 14 for data recovery alone! Including our friends at $300DR although his price is high compared to the $89 and $99 estimates of some listings.

Wonder if it will bring service? I've never even thought to look for service through Amazon. We do get calls for Angies list all the time wanting some advertising or something like that. Funny thing is we have thousands of customers and if I remember correctly only 1 from Angies list about 5 years ago lol.
