Hi all,

Reading the thread about upselling, got me thinking that I should be getting into selling AV. Previously, for most home users, I would just recommend and install AVG. Problem is... AVG is terrible these days. IMHO, version 8 and even 8.5 are crap. I've seen so many issues, I can't, in good conscience recommend it anymore.

So I've been looking into Eset, Kaspersky, and even Symantec products. I'm still waiting on specific details of their reseller programs, but in the mean time, what are you guys using these days for paid AV?

For the last 4 years, I have been a reseller of ESET Antivirus (aka NOD32) and ESET Smart Security.

I looked at AVG, but they only offered a tiny reseller margin (in this part of world anyway) unless you had already sold a huge amount of licenses.

My customers love NOD32, especially as their computer generally runs alot quicker once it is installed. NOD32 also often immediately finds viruses that their previous software never found.

The first sale is not the most important - it's the renewals that are really important - it's money for jam, and also gives you a good reason to keep in contact with your customers. - which often leads to other work

Hey ACG,

Are they interested in small (very small) resellers?
I'm a one man operation with no additional sales people.
I tried to sign up for their program before I established my business with the State but
got no response from them.

I don't know about the States but over here they have no problem dealing with small resellers.

Same here in NZ. - It might be worth calling them, and talking about your application. This often pushes this kind of thing along, especially if you come across as an approachable, knowledgeable new reseller!

Does anyone here sell Sophos? I used it at my last job and found it to be really easy to use and was GREAT at cleaning really nasty virus/trojans like Antivirus2009 and AntivirusXP ().

On another note, I use Nod32 on all my machines and love it!

Symantec

Dont go for Endpoint protection Manager + clients 11 if your in a windows 2008 setup, we wasted about 4 working days on setting up new servers, installed Symantec, everything started to go wrong. started with printers not working nad just screwed the whole things up, ended up having to use cleanwipe on the server and threw some windows problems

trendmicro is good, we push that rather then symantec, cheaper in a 2 year seatup aswell!
