Remember that 1st computer

I was just three years old when my parents got their first computer. A C64 with a cassette recorder. It blew up and my parents replaced it in 1990 with a C64C.

In 1993 we bought our first PC, a IBM PS/1 with 2MB of RAM, 80MB HD and a 12" VGA monitor. In 1996 we rented a 486 SX2 50 (a very rare CPU). I then bought a second hand 486 DX4 120 upgraded to a P166MX (in 1997) then stuck a Cyrix 300 chip in and it just continued from there.

We first got the internet in 1997 on the 486 DX4 and a 33kbps modem.

My first family computer was an Apple IIe in 1986. Everything ran off the 5.5" floppies but it did quite a bit all things considered.

Same here, I thought it was pretty rockin' since we had TWO 5.25" floppy drives! Whoo hoo. I blame that monochrome (green and black) monitor for having to wear glasses now. LOL

I can remember spending hours programming my own games by retyping Apple Basic code from magazines... oh the days...

I don't remember the model exactly, but I remember the specs. The first PC that was specifically mine (not the familys) was an HP desktop. It had a Pentium 166MMX, 16MB RAM, 1GB hard drive. It accepted a max of 64MB which I eventually bumped it up to. It was the kind that sits horizontally on the desk and you put your CRT on top of it. I loved that PC! Many a night spent play team fortress classic over 33.6K dial-up in 640x480 VGA mode.

I actually still had it in the basement til like a year ago, when I finally pitched it :'( For a while I had it running as a linux web server.

My first computer had centipede and space invaders on it. Thats all i knew to do with it. i also remember when i turned it off to go to bed the monitor had a glow which would scare me and i couldnt sleep until it went completely dark.

My first was a TI-99 ... my first real box was a 286 with a 20 meg RLL drive. I loved the case it was one of those IBM style huge cases that had tons of room in it ... I upgraded to a 386 with a math co-processor and thought I was Bill Gates. rofl ... ahhh the good ole days.

Tandy 1000 bought new in 1984. No hard drive but did have the 3.5 floppy instead of the then standard 5.4 floppy. The dog-gone thing cost around 1300.00 which was a lot of money in 1984.
