We have a client with office 2013 home and student that needs to be reinstalled. They have a card with a standard 25 character office key. They do not remember the account they set it up with originally. Microsoft has not been any help. Can this be downloaded somewhere and just install it normally(like old versions) and enter the valid product key?

One more thought: when we try and redownload it by typing it in on the office.com/setup page after creating a new account, it says it is an invalid key(it is genuine). I think this is because we tried to set it up with a second microsoft acocunt(I realize that might not be good).

Once activated it is locked to the Microsoft Account that it is registered to. You'll have to get the Microsoft account login if you want to reinstall it. There is no way around that.

Most Microsoft accounts are the end users email address.

But they also can be various Microsoft email accounts such as hotmail, live or outlook.com

Do you have the actual license key, or is it the setup key (to get the license when you register)?

If you have the actual license, you may be able to download the appropriate copy and install it.

I recommend getting copies of anything you may need and keep them archived.

it's an actual key, wow, that is a nice link!

as Nline pointed out, I wonder if they will have issues with activating or fprced unactivation. Hmm.....
