Hi,

Ran into a problem. Was installing 7 and instead of upgrade used the advanced and basically the drive got formatted and previous folders have been deleted. I used active @ disk to check the drive and the files can be covered however theres about 10k folders (folder000xxxx). Other then going thru and recovering the files is there any other options to recover the old partition? or a better recovery solution?

Thanks

I'm running ontrack and easeus to see which one can get me a better result. Now if I only can get my hand on a flux capacitor to jump 8 hours of wait time!

alright so easeus is done. Here is my questions, and please if i'm asking a noob question please forgive me, I don't usually do full hd recoveries.
In Active disk I got folder000xxx 10-20k folders, in easeus its a bit more organized, but my question is this, why am I seeing 10-20 folders with the same name but only 1 has files and the rest are empty?
And the folders have duplicate filenames repeated 2-3 times with the same size/date/time? and is there a scan save feature in easeus?
I don't see any options after the scan and don't really want to go thru 4 hours of a rescan.
I'm running getbackdata and ontrack and then will decide which one to use for the recovery. and thanks again guys for your input.

I know its a little late, but when it comes to data recovery I really like Recuva. It's probably to late for this job, but keep it in mind for the next one.

thanks guys for all your input. I ended up using Easeus, the others either took too long or didn't hold the directory structure. It was a 320G HD and Easeus scanned it in about 3 hours where getback and ontrack took well over 12 hours. I've used Recuva but I needed the directory structure not just the files back, but thanks for the suggestion.
