Hi I have a customer who is unable to access their yahoo email account. They have forgotten their password, but also the recovery mobile phone no longer exists and there is no recovery email account listed

They are able to get their emails on an ipad!! I guess via an app password

The problem is some tech years ago has a forward from their business email account (own domain!!) to the yahoo and they have always replied using webmail from their business computer.

I have tried everything and just keep going in a loop on the website that the account cannot be recovered online.

All of their contacts are stored in yahoo and they send out a regular mailshot to their restaurant client base

Does anyone else know an alternative way to contact yahoo to try and recover the account or is this situation not recoverable

Thanks

Jason

Any chance they had a traditional e-mail client pointing there that might have cached the password? Outlook? Thunderbird? Or a saved run of D7 or nirsoft's password utility? Because I don't think you can actually reach a human being at Yahoo to get assistance.

Hi thanks for your reply. I have tried nirsoft mailpv and browser password view and no joy there. I have no idea why they suddenly cannot access the account unless it have been hacked (wouldn't that be a surprise with yahoo!!) and the password has been changed in some way.

Will keep trying

If it was hacked, then the IPAD wouldn't be able to recover it either. So, why not use the IPAD to change the password, and then set up his computers with the new password?

Customers....

Is the Yahoo account a free account or paid? If it's free, unless you can get the password off of the iPad, they are out of luck. If it's paid you should be able to get to a human. Yahoo implemented a real security not long ago. It's likely you are not able to complete the web part because you need to complete the new security protocols setup.

The iPad? How old? What version iOS? How exactly are they getting it on the iPad? If it's via Safari they can get the password from in Safari. Settings>Safari>Passwords and Autofill or something like that. If they are still getting emails on the iPad it's probably not hacked or at least the password has not been changed.

Beyond the password thing I'd focus on getting control of the business email account and make sure recovery is properly setup. Hopefully it's IMAP so copies of emails are still on the server. And I'd make sure to do a backup of the iPad. Probably 3 different computer profiles so you have 3 copies.

Hello everyone many thanks for your replies, I tried all the options and we were unable to get any info to solve the password issue. My customer has decided to bite the bullet and create a new personal email account and I have set up their proper domain business account on their computer so that they can check these directly rather than having a forward to the personal account. (Lesson learnt for the customer!!)
