I always take a picture with my cell phone and then use the zoom function - works better for me cause I can't remember half of what I read for more than 3 seconds it seems. Getting old sucks.
I've been going to get one of those USB microscope setups for years, but never quite pull the trigger. it would help if I had any spare space to put the darned thing.
I guess it also depends on how much magnification you're looking for.
I can get by with pretty much any "standard" magnifying glass if I'm wearing my reading glasses, and very often even if I'm not.
If you intend to use this frequently, and "on the bench" then my only suggestion would be buying what is known (in the jewelry making biz and I believe a lot of other places) as a third hand that has a magnifying glass attachment. It's so nice to be able to adjust the glass then have the third hand holding it in place for ongoing reference when you need to keep looking back again.
I still have one of the original Intel USB microscopes around here somewhere. The image quality leaves quite a bit to be desired but at the time it was very cool.
