Rebuilding My website (Thoughts PLEASE)

Hey Justin,

Overall looking good. A few notes:

1. I would find a way to put your phone number at the top of the page, this is especially important in mobile, because at mobile size, the sliders shrink down and the phone number there becomes very tiny.

2. Slider speed may be a little too fast...it's a bit dizzying.

3. The green-on-blue buttons make it hard to read the text in the button....for color-blind folks it may be impossible. I would go with just white text in the button.

Other than that, I like the simple clean look.

I like it! (actually, I might borrow a few ideas. Imitation is the finest form of flattery you know)

It is very clean, and I really appreciate the color pallete. I agree with YFNCG though, your number or email should be a little more prominent

"We are so sure of our maintenance plan that if you get a virus on a covered machine we will fix it for FREE!" Is that unconditional? Meaning that when they remove your anti-malware software and get infected you will still do it for free? If there are conditions you need to make some reference.

Didn't look through the entire site, but this here I agree with. Make sure you have a rock solid contract and terms.

Thanks for the suggestions - i made all the changes you suggested!

Having a layout template and sticking too it is good.....but maybe try a different color for the stroke (aka the line) dividing your sections. Check out this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_wheel for color matching ideas. [Red would be a better match for blue, but I understand you're trying to match your logo.]

I kind of feel bad about criticizing this because you already printed the storefront and the car but I think you're a little all over the place. From LCD repair to web design to virus removal it just seems alittle too random. Also when I clicked on your service to repair Windows computers there were offers to buy SSD's and other "upgrade" type hardware.

In my personal opinion your site / services could use alittle more focus so that it's easier for me to understand just what you're about.

Thanks for the critique.

Other than the Web design, Are the other services not normal for a computer repair company to offer?

Yeah I definately don't think that surveillance systems is your typical "computer guy" type service. I can image that most companies that deal in surveillance ONLY deal in surveillance because there's quite a lot to do regarding that service.

Then there's the "business networking" which is an IT service and also not very computer guy-like.

Think about it yourself. If you think about the 3 services, Business networking, surveillance systems and virus removal do you that there is a common theme there? IMO I see three totally different services which could easily be 3 companies / websites.

If you need 4 security cameras installed in your office, would you hire the guy that does both surveillance and virus removal and etc. or the guy that specializes in only surveillance?

Gotta step in here and say a few things. First off, it seems reasonable for smaller security systems to be installed by a professional computer repair and installation company. I do agree that some things about the site should be changed to make things more userfriendly, I don't think he's going for the neighborhood computer guy aesthetic.

And when your installing a surveillance system, do you want a guy completely foreign to your setup or someone who knows your network inside and out?

I'm not trying to attack you, but I have to disagree with you that those could be completely separate business. They are different, yes, but I mean, Microsoft offers some of the best PC software on the market, as well as a gaming console. Your point is valid, but I think in this case his arrangement of 3 technology related services is fine. They could be separated on different pages to make it more clear though.

Also, you resurrected an essentially dead thread, not always awesome forum etiquette. But on the bright side, welcome Mr. Bojangles!

Just to throw in my two cents ... it all depends on your market. Location, location, location. I went from a specific service to a generic broad range, BUT that's how I am branding myself. I moved to a string of small towns, where people don't know anything about anything in the tech field. They refer to me as the "digital handyman". I do general repairs, custom builds, networking, web design, phone repair, etc ... hell I'll help you setup your Instagram if it's billable time. By doing this I am getting a lot of "gravy" work. Nothing to strenuous - plus at a lower hourly rate than these other guys & brick/mortar store I am snagging a lot of jobs.

And I tell customers, just like a real handyman, I can fix a lot of little things and have knowledge in different fields, but I don't have a PhD in any of these. Some times you need an expert and I will refer them to one (usually with a little kickback).

Sorry bojangles, I agree with bolharr. I don't think it's bad that he offers these services if he has enough knowledge in them to make sure they are done right. However, I do agree with you in that there isn't much flow, in a sense where the services are all over the place. Not so much the content, but just the slider. I think the slider hops around a little, but after that it flows pretty nicely and how it goes from (what I would imagine to be) most common services to least common which having a decently smooth order to them.
