Working on a Win 8.1 system...

There is a folder on a client's pc that will not stay deleted.

I have changed permissions under the security tab, run a couple different file shredders on it. Nothing seems to work. I suppose I could take the easy way out and just click the hidden check box, but this thing is bugging me no end.

In the past, I was able to get rid of the reappearing ones simply by checking all the permissions boxes, allowing full control. What am I missing here?

I'll have a go at the empty loop unlocker. And look at backup tasks as well. I had thought of that. This is simply a folder titled "music" to which he had some home recorded trumpet files in. The files do not come back, only the folder.

I think that is the key to the mystery. You might look to see if the "Music" link in quick access has been modified to show more than one location (including your trouble folder), or perhaps something just got confused because the folder used a name normally used by Windows. Maybe try renaming it first? Maybe look in Onedrive for a folder with that name?

And the thing that did the trick, was what?

Well, it's been about 4 days, I think. So far so good. I ran a program called "File Shredder" on it, then ran ccleaner and deleted every program that was not needed. Then ran the ccleaner registry cleaner. Don't know the individual cause. but it's gone...at least for now.
