re: workshop broken into - Emergency Recovery Fund idea

Shoot me your addy, income tax comes in Friday let me know what you are missing on the TechNet Subscription and I will send you the rest..... No Repayment Necessary...

Generally speaking it is called EMPATHY.
To me is much easier to empathise with someone who is in the same shoes as I am.
Having a terminally ill relative is sad, hard to deal with but that doesn't cut it with me. sorry....
There are charities for cancer, etc etc....
But you know what happens with those money?
Research projects are being financed, then if a cure is found, it all becomes business, patents, etc, etc.
People like the team who discovered penicillin (not bloody mr felming) are a dying breed.
If a cure for cancer will be found, that would mean lots and lots of money.. blah blah..... if it sounds like you care for someone else, then is ok to make some money while you "show you care".
One day you will eventually wake up to the real ugly world we live in.

You know I only brought it up because you referred to it yourself. For the record the Marie Curie charity aren't looking for a cure for cancer. They provide nurses to look after terminally ill people - to give the relatives a few hours rest without worrying their child or parent has died whilst they were asleep. As far as I know the nurses are volunteers who spend time in hard situations to be with dying people in their last hours. Obviously all this costs money, hence the charitable status.

Anyway, I think it's great that people are offering money or practical support to Nige, especially when he happens to be a good chap. And that's how I think it should work - if you feel a connection to one of the owners and you can afford some money, time, items or whatever then you can offer to help. but a fund would be much more like an organised charity and open to problems I think.

Can I please once again say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated.

I have more than enough to get a tech net subscription. I will now accept all the donations ( as I haven't yet), will order the sub on monday am.

I have kept a log of who has donated which amount, and as soon as is humanly possible, I will start repaying, + my promised 10%, which I would like you to give to your chosen charity.

You guys are the best there is around. Some of you, I have not had the privilege of speaking to on the forums, yet you have found it in your hearts to donate. Words simply cannot express how I feel right now. I have been in tears, reading some of the comments made, as I am right now writing this post.

There are so many thank you's I feel like I need to make, which I will soon be doing via pm, and or email.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will update the other thread, with todays happenings shortly.

I'm glad things are working out for you as I knew they would! It's also nice to see fellow TNers help when 'one of our own' is in need!

Nige: I sent you a PM-:)

i was wondering what you was up to bryce thats really generous of you and it just confirms what i said earlier about the group coming together in bad times on topic i like the idea of a crisis fund but how do we moderate it

forinstance cadishad told us about his problem to share it with the comunity and to get some advice of things he had no idea or intention of getting financial support

but what would stop mr jr pizza tech/ scammer from faking a situation and getting the money from us

its better we just keep our pennies and then when someone needs help like cadishad then we can all make individual decisions on wether to help that way if person a dosent want to help he can and he has a better decions where his donation goes

speaking of paypal bryce i may ask for his paypal email in a few days once i know how money is gonna plan out for this week

can I get your paypal account please. sorry to hear about the incident but I am sure you will be OK soon with your dedication, skills/experience and patience. I also had to recover as I made a huge loss on another type of business. All the best to you.
