I have a HP Pavilion G6 1370ea with Windows 7 Home Premium, It came in has will not boot to windows, when the laptop turns on it goes to a system menu screen, which as the following Black background and white wording
F1 System Information
F2 System Diagnostics
F9 Boot Device Options
F10 BIOS setup
F11 System Recovery
Enter - Continue Setup
For more information please visit www.hp.com\go\techcentre\start-up

needless to say I have visited this website and it was not helpful.
What I have tried sfc.exe scan came ok , anti-virus with Malwarebyte and Hitman, cam up with cookies and pups nothing else, also tried Hp diagnostics (in hope) all is fine.
Reset the BIOS to Default, have tried to do a recovery but it will not open the recovery disc just stops and goes to a black screen, have tried to go into the recovery drive but will not respond.
well that's about it any help would be grateful

I would disconnect the keyboard from the mobo and then try to boot it and see if it does the same. It could be sending an "esc" key code, I think that's what wakes up that menu, and if it doesn't do it when the keyboard is disconnected you found the issue.

The esc key is stuck....................

Thanks you all for your help, it appears to be the keyboard, Laptop start fine without it, I will try a spare one next week.

Had this same issue about 2 weeks ago. Turned out to be the keyboard as well. Disconnecting it fixed the problem. Popped in a new one on Saturday, all is well.
