Purchasing Anti-Virus Products for a customer while onsite.

Just wondering how other Tech’s handle the purchase of Anti-Virus software when onsite for a client. Typically I just use Microsoft Security Essentials, but sometimes a client specifically wants Norton AV. I used to be able to download the trial versions and let the client purchase it later, but now Norton wants a credit card as a hold.

It’s just awkward and time consuming to have the customer sit down and fill out that info. I wish there was way I could sell that product to them without having to license it to my company and then have to worry about it auto renewing under the company credit card.

Anyone else have different option or suggestion? *Remember I only do this when a customer specially asks for Norton and won’t accept another free AV product. So in this instance using an alternative is not an option.

Eset NOD32 is setup online. Make purchases "on the fly" while onsite...you'd have the license file e-mailed within a few minutes, download it, set the user/pass in the license file...and you were golden. Download client, install, configure, all set.

Not sure how Norton/Symantec handles resellers now...we stopped a few years ago, but it was mostly Corporate Edition back then so no spontaneous purchases.

One option I can think of...keep some boxed retail licenses in stock.

We are an ESET reseller so i just log into my distributors portal and order one while onsite. The licence is emailed to me immediatley and I can get the software all running fully before leaving the site.

I purchase NIS from Amazon's digital download.

Or you can get NAV from digital download (1 user).

If you want trials without having a CC on file, I utilize CNET.

What's nice about these is that I use them as the installer and then just pop in the product key to activate the 1-year subscription. Easy peasy.
