People coming to your house

GHV, when you do your on-site calls, do your have identification in your wallet? A driver's license with your home address? If someone killed you in their home, wouldn't that identification be putting your family at risk? Even if they killed only you, wouldn't getting yourself killed like that put your family in hardship?

I'm not trying to troll you, just pointing out the "logical" conclusion of your line of thinking. Can't you only really protect your loved ones by having no contact with anyone else?

(Of course, the next logical step in this discussion is whether or not to equip a firearm on a service call and that's a whole bigger, messier can o' worms)

When has that ever happened that someone making a house call was murdered and then the killer went to the tech's home? It's more likely that they'll capture big foot or the chupacabra.

I think we are getting a bit over the top here. All I am saying is, don't bring strangers to your home where your family is at.

Point blank. Nothing more and nothing less.

Just like the old saying "don't talk to strangers" we teach our kids. Same principle, don't bring strangers home to your family.

Everyone can do what you want, and what you are comfortable with, I did not post my opinion to have a debate or have it micro analyzed. Please respect my opinion and lets move on. Coming up with all these crazy scenarios is just plain stupid.

Thanks, and I respect your positions.

When's the last time a service provider's family was kidnapped after he invited a stranger over to his house? You are far more likely to be kidnapped or killed by a loved one (who already knows where you live), than a complete stranger.

I should note that I don't list my address in the yellow pages or website or anywhere. It's by appointment only. People come to me only after I speak to them on the phone. I haven't had one riff raff come by yet.
