Hello!
I have a client that seems to be missing some Peach Tree sales data.

Apparently they only have data from this year (January 1st). They do daily backups and those are accessible.

I go in tomorrow (Wednesday), to see if its an actual issue, or if the reporting period is just set to 2018 instead of all time; however, I would like to prepare for the worst and sub out the restoration as Peachtree is not my specialty. Is anyone here a PeachTree expert that I can sub this out to? Preferably someone who knows Peachtree really well, how to repair the database or at the very least combine their backup and the current copy as they have been working with it like this for a few days. I can setup remote access.

PM me. :)

Wow,
That's really strange. Had a similar call last week.
PeachTree was complaining about Win 10 Creator's Update, needed to run in compatibility mode Win 8???????????
Set to run in Win 8 mode, finished Creator's update, (it failed previous 4 times) and all looked good.
Customer did their end of year stuff.
Got a call the next day with the same issue as described (only current data).
Luckily I had her do a backup before we did anything.
Restored backup and all appears fine.
I don't know much about PeachTree, but this one just seemed downright strange.
I hope she doesn't call back........LOL!

UPDATE:

Went on-site today. The reporting range is correct and the operator kind of knows his way around the computer. Turns out its a Gateway PC running Windows 98 and Peachtree Accounting 2005. From what I gathered is that it did not just happen all of a sudden. The user turned off the computer by holding down the power button and when he turned it back on it asked for a File Check, in which he did, it found a corrupt file, he clicked yes to repair it and ever since then it has not worked.

I recommended they buy a new computer, I am writing up an estimate for that now, but in the meantime it would be a hell of a lot easier if the Peachtree database wasn't corrupt. Luckily (and surprisingly) this version of PeachTree actually has a data integrity check built in. I am running it now, but it keeps stopping since there isn't enough space on the 20GB drive when it attempts to make any repairs. -_-. Idk how much time I should spend on trying to recover this. Or I should just restore their backup to the new system with new software, and then ask them to re-enter the data for the past few days.

Any thoughts?

you could clone it to a bigger drive should not be a problem finding an IDE then you could do data integrity check

No matter how much pre-planning you make it is sometimes off the radar when you get there with win98
being there done that many times

I ended up removing Microsoft office and that gave me enough space to run the utility. Which worked by the way *phew* getting the new pc ready tomorrow and converting to quickbooks woohoo!

Perhaps virtualize the win 98 PC on a modern machine?

I thought about this as an ongoing solution so the bookkeeper knows the program and there will be less calls, but it’s about time they do a full switch to modern technology. And the sooner it gets switched the better.

@Tech Savvy Hey, we must have the same logo guy.
