Hi guys

I was just wondering if anyone here has used the Paypal Here app and card reader? is it any good? or is there another alternative, it needs to be a mobile card reader.

Thanks for any help

You just reminded me I had one. I haven't used it because it never worked. Well I just figured out the problem. The phone/tablet volume has to be all the way up for it to work.

I have used it for quit a while. Yes it works great and the rates are good too. One other thing is I have a PayPal Mastercard so as soon as a customer pays me using PayPal here, the money is available thru the Debit/Credit card.

I signed up before Paypal started shipping them out. I switched from Square to PayPal and it works great. Great web management, easier to add my products and prices. I even received a PayPal business debit card that I only use for business purposes. I use it on my Android phone and iPad.

That's why I like it. If a customer pays on Friday, I won't have access to the funds until Monday morning with Square. With PayPal Here, it's instant using the debit card.

It's relatively new in the UK so I ended up going with iZettle.

The wife now has two PayPal Here Chip and Pin readers to go with her two iPads in her home salon.
So far they have worked well but easy to forget to charge them up!

The iZettle reader has a small illuminated LED display so it is easier to see what's happening at a glance, whether it's charged etc, prompts the customer when to enter the PIN etc.

Yes I carry one of those portable power packs for that reason. Also micro usb leads in the car

I have it on my Kindle Fire HDX 7 and it works great. Paypal has so many good things to offer a small business.

PayPal Here is not available in Canada, unfortunately. I also checked with my bank (TD Canada Trust) about getting a terminal, but they would require a business chequing account that would cost me $18/month. That's just not feasible, considering the small number of people wanting to pay by credit card. I can't complain, as they kindly set me up with a no-fee chequing account to use for the business many years ago.

Well thanks for all your replies it has been my first post after introducing myself and the response has been great. Thanks for the help in making my mind up

I would recommend Intuit much cheaper than PayPal and you have the choice of a terminal or online. We use online in front of the client.

I use izettle, my only gripe apart from the expense is the micro USB port is very flimsy and won't work with most cables, it only seems to charge when using the USB cable that game with my Galaxy S4. I have a cig to USB lighter adaptor in the car so if I forgot to charge it I can charge it in the car.

Good idea with the power brick, I will take that in the car too.
