Hey guys I have a few clients with children (mostly 13-17 years old) and they would like a way to protect them online. Some of the main features they are looking for are:

  • Website Blocking
  • Program Blocking
  • Social Media Reporting / Monitoring
  • Easy To Use Dashboard
  • Time Limits
  • Text / Email Notifications
  • General Internet Usage Reporting

I have come across a few programs out there but I would like to know if anyone has some suggestions or experience with anything like this.

Here are some sites I found that offer what I am looking for.

1. http://www.netnanny.com/
2. http://www.qustodio.com/

Any suggestions for something that has social networking monitoring? Something that alerts a parent about sexual & dangerous messages being sent on facebook, twitter, etc...

There have been like, a squillion posts, here on the subject of parental controls.

Please consider doing a search before posting. This has been covered many times in the past.

The best one I have come across is by a company called "policy central". The home version "cyber sentinel" is a good price and I know a lot of schools in the uk use it. It take time making a list of the keywords and the websites that you want to block but you can keep adding to these with time. What positive hit occur it takes a capture of the screen and it can give different uses different levels of protection. It also monitors social networks and chat rooms.

I have found my clients like the freedom but also the high level of protection it gives and allows.
