Customer has a Panasonic Toughbook CF-61 which he hasn't used
for a while and he can't remember the password to boot the machine.

When you boot the machine, before even allowing you to get into
the BIOS it asks for a password. Without this password you cannot
boot the machine.

I can probably void the password if I can remove the CMOS battery,
but I cannot find a Servive manual for this machine to be able to
disassemble and remove the battery. I've spent hours on the net
looking for a Service manual and even the Panasonic site is no help.

If anyone has a service manual or knows how to disassemble the
machine to get to the battery, it would be very helpful.

They didn't call this a toughbbook for nothing.

If it's anything like the Thinkpads from Lenovo you wouldn't be able to unlock it by removing CMOS battery anyway. The Thinkpads all have built in security chips (Atmels) which run independantly of the BIOS. The ONLY way to remove it is to build an EEPROM reader circuit which is used via the serial port of another PC to read the security file & then a piece of software to decode the file. Needless to say first time out is major hassle, when you have done a few it's not so bad, so if this a one off I would send it to Panasonic!
