I have a customer that is having problems with windows live mail, i have to agree it is no longer anything like outlook express i am looking for a clone that would work in windows 7 any ideas?.

+1 for Thunderbird

It is from the makers of Firefox.

Outlook Express is no longer support because it has been replaced by that dreadful Live Mail.

I don't know if any OE clones out there but Thunderbird is well worth the try.

You could always put Windows Mail on instead of Live mail. I've done that wth Vista machines and dont see it wont work with 7.

At least it works similar to OE and wouldnt be such a learning curve.

Have you seen the new thunderbird it a clone of live mail trying to get away from that even worse thre is no mail program i have found that can import windows live mail as well.

well that answers an question I was going to post. His OE got corrupted and he started using live mail, I have just transformed his data to a new pc and he wanted OE again. I was searching google and could not find anything, now I know why.

I can't see how you can install Windows Mail, as Windows Mail was intergrated into Vista only. Win7 doesn't come with a mail client.

I don't actually mind WLM, I think it's more intuative, and is less likely to screw up than what OE was, as mail is no longer stored in crappy .dbx files which were forever getting corrupt when user didn't compact them.

I stand corrected after a quick google...

Hours of sifting through searches i have 2 choices:

1: Foxmail

2: Evolution 2.28.2-1

Foxmail looks closest to OE and is used by millions in china and is less than half the size.

I'd still go with Thunderbird. A little customization and it'd be almost the same. I've been using it for the last couple of years (broke my Outlook dependency) and I really can't see the WLM comparison. It's 100x more like OE than WLM, IMHO :)

I've put a number of customers (and my in-laws) on to TB when they went to Vista/7. No complaints. For one, I customized the toolbar and even made the desktop icon to the OE one. A near-complete clone.

Have you seen the new thunderbird its a clone of windows live mail no amount of configuring would make it work exactly like OE.
I would have to find an old version.
Check newest version it is identical to live mail.

As much as I recommend Thunderbird, I think Galdorf's recommendations are more suitable for OE users who have fear of interface change :)

I will not recommend Evolution, because it has the hand of Sauron ^w Mickeysoft behind it, but I'm definitely taking Foxmail on board.
