One of my customers has recently connected her iPhone 3g to her laptop running XP Professional. Using iTunes the phone syncs OK via USB cable with her Outlook 2000 profile but now she finds she cannot send any emails from her laptop and LAN connection unless the iPhone is connected. Outlook and her Internet profile are both set to communicate via the LAN connection as primary connection. Even with the iPhone connected the emails send via the LAN connection. Her ISP does not require SMTP authentication. Any other LAN connections to the gateway, server and other network devices are not affected.
I've gone through all connections on iTunes and Outlook and everything is set to send via the LAN connection, I can find no setting in iTunes that dictate outbound SMTP communications. I suspect the issue is with iTunes, but I'd appreciate any help if anyone's come across this type of problem before or can point me to the setting parameter in iTunes.
TIA
