Outlook 2016: Some message show up twice. Why?

This topic, with the copied/pasted title, came up today in one of the screen reader groups. I am just curious if such behavior "rings any bells" with anyone here as far as possible causes and/or fixes.

I realize that this is minimal information, but there are times when that's all that's needed for a flash of recognition in someone who's "been there, done that, got the T-Shirt."

I've seen this as a side-effect of a mis-configured inbox rule...

I remember something about if you open an EML file in Outlook, and move it into a folder or save it or something, Outlook saves it duplicated
