[REQUEST] Outlook 2016 bcc issue

Hi all,

I have a client that has 2 "Microsoft accounts" one business and the other for personal use.

The issue is with the personal account xxxxx@msn.com it's a Windows Live Hotmail Plus he's had it for many years.

He basically uses it to send email to 2 or 3 groups of friends. These groups are of no more than 125 people and he only sends out 7 or 8 emails a day to them.

He uses Outlook 2016 application on a Windows 10 computer (all updates done including anniversary version), until last week everything was working fine but then the "bcc" function stopped working. The "To" and "cc" function works well.

The reason that I mentioned that he has 2 accounts is that while troubleshooting the issue I added the other "business" account and with that account the "bcc" function works fine.

Anybody have any idea what could be happening?

This is a known issue I believe. I had a client last month with one the same or very similar and she did the research on it because honestly I didn't want to bill her because it was such an odd issue. I feared charging for a fix I would not be able to find. But I ended up migrating her to exchange anyway and problem solved. (I think her issue was that she couldn't see the BCC after sending)

You are in the heart of older rich folks, I would be up-selling Exchange like nobody's business! :) I was in Naples last year btw...it was so nice, so fancy.

When you say BCC does not work what do you mean? What happens?

You have tried a repair of the office install, yes?

What I mean is that, when I use the bcc function for that xxxxx@msn.com account, no matter what I use to input an email (group or individual) the emails do not go through. There's no error message no nothing. The email shows up on the sent folder but nowhere else.

Also doesn't matter if I use the Outlook 2016 application or the online version. Time wise this only started last week, before that everything was working great.

Any ideas?

I told you a few things, that the outlook.com and some features are not working. If you tested in Outlook and online, then it's probably a glitch "they are working on...." and will fix someday.
 
They (MS) may have limited the free service BCC limit. Can he email ten of them by BCC?

I would look at the mail-merge function in Outlook to send the same email to 175 people separately. With mail merge in Outlook you can have the forename on the email too, to make it a bit more personal.

Then you might run into a limit with the number of emails being sent!!

Who has 175 friends they need to email 8 times a day? Might be a job for a proper online mailer such as mailchimp.
 
I had a client who had a list of 125 people that he needed to email everyday, I think I figured out what was going on. There was something political going down and he had to share the updates with the country club members.
