i have a client who is saying outlook 2010 only, i suggested thunderbird*, but he wants to use outlook for his wacom tablet pen thing :o

got it setup with an IMAP server, since he doesn't want his yahoo mail folder being changed, and wants it synced with outlook..

he has yahoo plus enabling him to use outlook with it..

got everything setup, its actually not too bad, and fast enough

only problem is it sends out blank emails to his clients..

the header is good, attachments are good but it doesn't show basic things like highlighted portions, indentations, little graphics here and there (bullet points/little arrows in outlook)

thing is sometimes it will send data, sometimes no. but the formatting is non existent (in online browser client) [yahoo/gmail/hotmail, etc]

quick google search said its probably an anti-virus, but he has no av

is it because his clients are using the web browser and not outlook? but it doesn't explain why it doesn't show basic formatting like indentations

my only idea is he probably sent it as text or messed with the send as html5, text, rich text or something

i have no idea because i don't use desktop email clients :o

thanks guys!

Did you mean to suggest Thunderbird (Mozillas mail client) instead of Firefox (Mozillas browser).

Regardless...some of us just need the office tools that Outlook has. There is no competitor to Outlook. Thunderbird is just a tad better than Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail.

Anyways...with all those add-ons mentioned...what happens if you launch Outlook in /safe mode? (meaning it strips all add-ins/plugins in Outlook....not Windows safe mode but Outlook safe mode)

woops! its 5:33 am here :P corrected, thanks alot :p

same thing happens, outlook is pretty much running in safe mode already, all the addons like windows indexing, etc are already disabled as it was slowing outlook down
only thing he uses is the inking tool which is a standard feature
the addons are just standard features i think (they work during safe mode)

You've probably already checked this, but are the emails being sent in "plain text" mode? If so, no formatting will be done.

When you send an email, click the "Format Text" tab and make sure "HTML" is selected.

will double check that, i checked it out using a virtual pc on my own pc.. its either that or the outlook file is messed up since it was just dragged and dropped from outlook 2000, not imported.
