Outlook 2007 pst issues

Ok, so client has a outlook.pst file that is 0kb but also has an archive.pst file that is ok.

Client lost these emails only recently.
This client had emails dating back to 2009 and I don't think he was into archiving either.

One of my main concerns is that the computer has had many shutdown issues.
I am transferring his data and programs over to his new computer.

System Win 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I have tried running the scanpst program, with no luck.

Funny thing is that when I do a search I can see the email attachments in pdf form but cannot access them or find there location.

I'm just wondering if anyone has used the feature previous versions in win 7 with any success on pst files.

I do not have the computer, client needs for business.

Don't know specifically regarding PST files, but I know previous versions has saved my bacon a few times. Most recently, recovering 'notes' saved in Google Desktop's appdata folder. So, honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Previous Versions has a copy of your client's PST file. Wouldn't hurt to check, right?

I don't really understand the point of your post. Why would you not check previous versions anyway, its not like its going to do any harm.

It seems that an Outlook repair tool may help you in fixing this problem.

Any Outlook database related posts manage to be found by this "based in India" companies spambots and they'll spam up the post. Above username is found in tons of tech forums where it's obvious they come in via Google searches. They've spammed our forums at speedguide until we banned 'em and their IPs.

Member is not a tech by living..most likely just a spambot.

Yes....has worked fine.
Going to assume something corrupted the users PST....so Outlook barfed and created a new one after it couldn't find the old one.
May want to look at a shadow copy explore tool....depending on how the end user allowed to let the new PST be named.

Once you've restored it..I'd want to check a few things to ensure it didn't blow up again.
*Size of PST
*What antivirus are they using?
*COM add-ins/plugins for Outlook need any updating?
*If it's a larger PST..can cause heavy drive use...perhaps a new HDD may be in order.

I'm glad someone could answer my question. The client has Norton 360 premium. I'll most likely see him again early next week. Hopefully it will work. I'll definitely be advising him to backup his pst files more regularly. Thanks again

If it's on an additional partition..by default previous versions is only turned on on the system volume, so hopefully his PST was in a default user profile location.

There are so many tools also available which can recover deleted emails from outlook pst, one such tool is <insert brand that you're spamming for> for Outlook Repair it can recover emails from corrupted or damaged pst file.

I notice you only post when it comes to data recovery posts..and you only mention this one particular product. Clearly a spammer...reported.
