outlook 07 not sending out emails

That may be the case, he said he thinks it may be a TI line or something. Sorry, I just used that server name as an example, try mail.braaschcommercial.com I appreciate your help. I was testing using my isp here at my office which is not kmtel.

That one is a legitimate smtp server and definitely accessible from the outside without any special ports or authentication. Seems to be an open relay

yup, thats what he says, I'm stumped. hate that.

I love this :)
I must be a masochist :D

Woa I thought no one kept their mail servers as an open relay any more. Spamers just love those.

Can you try to setup his mail on another computer in the company to see if its just his computer that has these problems or if its his email address that is making the problem.

You could try to try to change his LAN ip address and computer name, but I dont know why this should change anything. But it must be something very odd that is doing this, so try odd things.

I remember a similar problem was because of a wrong DNS address in the computer.

Why does it work at his home, but not at his workplace AND its the same computer!
That just does not make sense.

I actually kind of love it too, sick, but I don't like not being able to solve it in a timely manner, at least I got his sound working again. Apparently the other guy in the office uses a mac, so thats no help. Funny that it worked for a while then just stopped. Hope he calls back, I'd like another crack at it.

I have a similar problem except it's with outlook 2003. I have a client that has three computers all setup with the same software, xp pro and office 2003. They all access the internet thru a linksys router thus sharing the same ip from that point on out and are tied up with Comcast. One of the girls computers a few months ago started experiencing a problem where she could recieve her email but couldn't send and the other computers were working fine. All her settings were correct. I then clicked on the 'Help' menu and then clicked the 'Repair' button. It took a few minutes of running but, when it was done everything was working again.

Now, the owner's desktop outlook 2003 is doing the same thing, recieveing but not sending. I proceeded with the 'Help' and 'Repair' but, it gets to a point and asks for the 'Office 2003 disc' to complete the repair and of course he doesn't know where it is. But, it seems strange that just all of sudden the outlooks started acting up like this. All the settings are correct and I can't see where the ISP or mail server could be causing the problem when all the other computers are working fine.

I called him today to follow up, he completely reinstalled outlook 07, it did work for a little while, then went right back to refusing to send on the one acct. weird, I didn't try the repair option because I didn't want to screw things up worse! Wish I had tried it now. I'll have to remember to try that next time, seems outlook is constantly a pain. I had a customer last week I had to rebuild her outlook acct because all her incoming mail was going into the trash!

The 'sent items' dbx file has probably reached its 2Gb limit or is otherwise corrupted. Copy the dbx file to a different name and restart outlook Express, it will create a new sent items folder when it restarts.

Outlook Express will also not receive emails if any of the Inbox dbx's have breached the 2gb limit.

Did you check for viruses?

yes, ran several scanners, only had a couple minor things, system runs as good as can be expected for a vista w/2 gb ram. That was my first suspicion. What really confuses me is that when I put in my smpt address it worked fine.

its outlook 2007, not express, I did think of that, but didn't try it.
