I can not figure this out does anyone have optonline and use there webmail? I will list everything already done. Please any suggestions or if I missed something let me know. I have a client who had a 7 year old computer Dell that for the most part was running OK except for optonline webmail very painfully slow literally take 5 minutes to load at times and to open an attachment could take longer. All other websites seemed to run just fine.

I scanned for viruses using malwarebytes, had a few deleted them, ran hijackthis looked ok. still no change everything worked ok except optonline webmail.
Contacted optonline they were no help, did get them to swap out the modem though, still no change.
Tried using firefox no change.
Just for the sake of it I swapped out the router, no change.
I noticed it seemed to be a java based website so i uninstalled java and reinstalled no change.
I connected my laptop to the same network cord his pc is plugged in and it worked fine.
my client's computer is part of a home based plumbing business that has 3 other computers on the same network that he says all are running fine but they dont use optonline webmail

I convinced my client even though everything else runs fine that he got his money's worth out of that 7 year old computer and its time to upgrade.

I built him a computer running Windows 7 64bit
4GB DDR3
Core i3-550 CPU

battle tested it in my office for 3 days ran great. checked his webmail some emails did take about 5 seconds to load but thats it.
Installed at clients site and everything worked great......for about 3 days.
Got a very angry, frustrated call from my client yesterday same thing again.

scanned for viruses using malwarebytes came up with 0.
Another strange thing is I am having trouble remoting the pc using Logmein and I have used that program for 7 years and only had one other instance that it didnt work and that pc was messed up. It freezes and disconnects and reconnects constantly. I was having the same issue on his old computer too.

programs he runs basically pretty generic and basic. Office 2007 Pro, Quickbooks 2005, Omni Pro....he has a brother MFC printer connected via USB

I suggested to use Outlook 2007 to get his mail but he wants webmail to work. Please let me know, thanks!!

if it worked three days and now there is a problem most likely he did something/installed something. Optonlines web mail is very buggy but works fine and when they do have problems they post right on their home page.

your best bet is to see what changes he made in the past three days.. Host file software installs browser installs proxy... ect.

If its really not his fault then it might be optimum. create a new email account on his account, log into it and see if it has the same problem. If it does not have the same problem then its on optimums side.

I think the problem is you have only done half the testing you should of and made a couple of assumptions on what was wrong.

well lucky for me I have a tough skin I guess.. but isnt that part of the purpose to post on here? because when you are wrapped up in an issue you need to step back, take a break, rethink and ask someone what did I miss? I did check but did not post in my first post that I looked at what had been installed in the three days and the only things were a few microsoft updates and the user purchased a license for logmein pro...he didnt have logmein pro installed on his old pc which also had the issue so yes I am assuming that is not the cause...ive seen proxies deny access to the web but never just slow one site down to a crawl but using hijackthis I did check anyway thanks!!!

Don't know Optonline at all but just a couple of ideas. Firstly Wireshark and have a look at the traffic and also what about a System Restore just to see if the problem goes away with an earlier setup?

yup was gonna do a system restore to a previous date but the user was in the field and I it might have messed up his logmein program, the user is a very hyper person didnt want to do it with out his approval first. thanks!!!
