We have a client that we're trying to help out, they bought a laptop from Best Buy and Office 2013 standard and it looks like their license got blacklisted.

Are there any options to contact Microsoft and get it replaced or white listed at all?

I think only a few months ago - I agree it's their problem however there is nothing wrong with an IT company going above and beyond for their client either.

I don't know what you mean by blacklisted. As far as I know there is no key that you use to install from Office 2013. The key you get has to be input into a Microsoft account. From there you install from their account at http://office.com/myaccount

Anyway, I would call Microsoft. They've helped me through issues like this before.

I think by "they" he was referring to it being a problem Best Buy should solve not Microsoft. Don't think he was implying the client should deal with it instead of you.

2013 was pre-installed on the machine I'm assuming? or did they get the actual box with the key card in it?

I have had legitimate copies of Office 2013 fail to install if you try and reinstall it. You only get about 2-3 installs before they shut it down. Never have gotten Microsoft to relent on it. It's one of the reasons I only sell O365. Microsoft doesn't have issues with you reinstalling it so long as you log into the portal and deactivate it on the old PC. It is clear they are being deliberately difficult just to push sales to o365.

And those were sold as 1 user/computer. Might have been used too many times.
And Microsoft originally was only going to allow you to use it on one PC. If it died, well sucks to be you, buy another one. But the angry mob got online and enough bad press was generated that they relented on that. But it still deactivates far too easily. If you are a power user who does a nuke and pave a lot you'll end up eating that.

All the laptops I've seen at bbuy here don't come with old 2013. I'm betting its a volume license and the key got used too many times, maybe they installed it on another pc too. Or the other one I get is, customer claims the laptop came with office after a hard drive crash and they had it for free....long story short, they get Libreoffice.
