Came in yesterday, dead as a doornail. I charged the battery in another laptop, machine runs. If I plug in power with a charged battery, power jack and little charging light in front both light. However, if I remove battery with power adapter still plugged in, laptop immediately dies, and both lights go out. Same results with any power adapter. Battery does not charge in customer's machine, but I can take it out and charge it with one of mine. Same results replacing battery with one of mine.

First thought was power jack, but, as long as a charged battery is in, jack lights up when adapter is plugged in. Seems that a charged battery is completing a circuit somehow.

Thoughts? Appreciate any ideas.

It still seems like it must be the jack even if you're getting a light at the jack when the battery is plugged in. I'm not sure i'd trust the light as an indictor vs. the trials and errors you've done. That particular model's jack has a harness so it would be a plug-in rather than a solder. Maybe the communication with the light is somewhat messed up and showing a positive when it shouldn't because of the wiring in the harness?

you can do some multimeter work, plug the charger in and see if you get an reading at the port, then trace the lines and find the next spot and probe it until you find a spot that should get voltage but doesn't.
