I have a client who brought his HP Pavilion dv9420us with vista home as the OS. he explian that when he first turn on the unit it was working just fine. after windows finishing booting up he decided to update windows,since he havn't done it for quite a long time. after windows has finishing installing the required updates and instructed the user to restart in which he did, after waiting for the splash screen logo to appear in which he had waited for over 2minutes nothing appeared, so he waited and waited still nothing but a black screen. I turn on the unit everything seems normal-- bios bootsup---then windows, perfect startup. did a restart, nothing... after waiting for up to five minutes, still a black screen, but other things starts to happen when the screen is still black. all the indicator lights (power, battery, HD, ect..ect..) turns off for less then a second and the comes back on, this goes on intermitten for every minute or less. I completely shut down the unit wait for over 5 minutes and then turn the unit on, it did a normal startup from bios to windows without any problems at all, restart, back to the black screen again.

I mean it's just pitch black with the light indicators turning off and on. did battery and power cord test, ram test, and so on but nothing is resolved. the only way to get the unit to work normaly, is to turn if off and waite for over 5-to-10 minutes. I am doing other tests to find the cause, but since this is a whole new issue that I have come across, I would like to know if anyone had experience this kind of issue and would like to offer advice or tips.
