I've repaired many of these types of DC Jacks, the simple cable harness that attaches to the motherboard but i've never had a problem like this.

I have two separate laptops that have had multiple DC Jacks and in the case of one, even three separate motherboards.

The light attached to the end of the cable harness where it connect to the AC adapter (charger) will light up orange or white (depending on which laptop) for a few moments but will soon fade out.

I've tried multiple AC adapters as well, seems to be going nowhere.

Thanks for reading and any input is appreciated.

It really helps that you have not provided any specific information about these laptops make, model, whatever. Thank you.

My apologies, I sort of assumed it was a general issue.

The first laptop is a Dell Studio 1535 Notebook. This is the one that i've attempted to use multiple motherboards as well as DC jacks and AC adapters.

The other laptop is an HP Pavilion G71-329WM Notebook. This one has a new DC jack installed but nothing else.
